Nature's Gem

Aug 12, 2024

The front yard was originally a lawn, but with a focus on water conservation, the homeowners decided to transform it into a drought-tolerant garden.

We designed this garden to be entirely native, with the existing camellias and Japanese maple incorporated into the plan. We also applied for the Lawn Conversion Rebate on their behalf. Although we were able to source about 70% of the native plants locally, several species were not available. Determined to get everything as planned, the homeowner took the initiative to visit native nurseries across the state and successfully obtained all the plants needed for the design.

The garden was installed in the fall. After completion, we submitted photos and other materials to the Rebate program, and the rebate check was received shortly afterward.

Just 3 months after the garden installation, a monarch caterpillar can be seen in the garden!
